Adults have been enthusiastically reading children's books for decades. Dragon's Den is another example of cross over fiction - it's a fantasy adventure set around Wharncliffe Crags, North Sheffield, where there is a cave known as Dragon's Den. The story involves 14- year-old twins Kate and Jack Tennant. When the power goes down in a thunder storm, Kate takes the torch and searches the attic for camping lanterns. There she inadvertently discovers a small box hidden behind the old skirting. Once the box is opened by a lightning strike, life changes forever for Kate and Jack, beginning with a ghostly apparition followed by the appearance of strange and malignant creatures in the garden, seeking entrance to the house. They want that which has been hidden for countless years - the necklace around Kate's neck on which is set a red stone. From that point onwards, the twins are caught up in a web of magic and enchantment, encountering goblins, elves, dwarfs, trolls and creatures of myth and legend, alongside ordinary people who are not at all what they seem. The twins set out to return the stone, journeying to a secret cave on the hillside called Dragon's Helm - but a traitor awaits who steals the stone, and Kate with it. Jack is determined to find his sister, even though it means venturing into the dragon's den. Joined by destiny, the twins and their allies pit the power of good against the evil forces of Spiller the sorcerer in a timeless and dangerous battle. This is an imaginative roller-coaster ride of a tale that culminates in an alliance with an ancient dragon...
